What IWHI Can Do

The National Network of Public Health Institutes describes public health institutes this way, “Public health institutes improve public health outcomes by fostering innovation, leveraging resources, and partnering with government agencies, communities, the health care delivery system, media, and academia.”

Here are some ways in which IWHI can strengthen Wisconsin’s public health system:
  • Incubate new prevention projects and ideas - with a special interest in ideas with the potential to connect business, medicine and public health sectors
  • Catalyze action around prevention - across sectors, disciplines, cultural and political barriers
  • Communicate issues and findings in ways that are easily understood
  • Act as neutral convener for policy related discussions
  • Analyze and evaluate prevention programming and policy
  • Provide an organizational home for public health workers and programs when governmental structures don’t allow rapid or flexible response
  • Provide leadership training for specialized initiatives with a special interest in public health quality, performance and accreditation
  • And more. Tell us what you have in mind!
