IWHI has three key functions:
 
·  Connect key leaders interested in making Wisconsin healthier

·  Catalyze action in an independent and highly-focused fashion

·  Communicate the value of population-based prevention to leaders who can generate change

 And some distinguishing characteristics:
 
·  Independence IWHI is not affiliated with a university, government agency or advocacy group. IWHI can act as a  neutral convener for groups addressing important prevention and public health issues.

·  Focus on bringing together leaders in business, medicine and public health to address a few very important issues

· Combining the best of public health and marketing sciences to convey ideas
